Why isn Monarch Artists a Non-Profit?
To become a Non-profit is a lengthy process. It can take up to 5 years to establish your Non-profit status. There are certainly benefits to becoming a non-profit entity, such as tax exclusions government grant eligibility, etc. Our decision to not be a non-profit entity has more to do with the amount of administration and management of such an organization. We would need to create a board of directors that meet regularly and follow a host of changing procedures to keep our Non-profit status. We believe in Non-Profits and admire them for all they do. There may be a time when we take this step. We also appreciate the stringent government requirements for Non-Profits that keep people from forming Non-Profits as a means to make money illegally. In our case, we want to keep the model simple; we paint, and we give a portion of the proceeds to charity. How does Monarch Artists pick which organizations to give to?
