Why isn lacrosse an olympic sport?
Lacrosse still has a long way to go in regards to being an Olympic sport and being even recognized as an Olympic Sport. In other words it has no universality yet as only Canada and the USA really play the sport at a high enough level. Major reason Lacrosse isn’t in the Olympics has to do with the fact the International Lacrosse has only 14 members and no presence at all in South America and Africa. The IOC requires that for a sport to be considered for the Olympics it must have 75 countries over 4 continents as members and 40/3 for the Women. Handball (team) on the other hand has 146 affiliated members and while it may only be popular in Greenland in North America it is popular in large parts of the world. Europe is where it’s most popular and played at the highest level. Germany, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Hungary, Romania, France, Poland, France, Russia and Croatia have all qualified teams for either the men and women in addition to these countries have pro handball l
