Why isn Komen funding quality of life or psychosocial research in 2008-2009?
Quality of Life and Psychosocial Research Komen recognizes that issues such as symptom management, quality of life, end of life care, and other psychosocial aspects of breast cancer are important areas of research. Because of Komen has sharpened its focus in this year’s research funding opportunities to emphasize rapidly bringing laboratory discoveries to the clinic and developing new therapies that will reduce deaths from breast cancer and ultimately, prevent the disease, we have not included these research areas in the annual research focus. These important issues, however, may be the focus of future funding opportunities.
