Why isn’t GKR a member of the EKGB (English Karate Governing Body) or similar international martial arts governing bodies?
The martial arts world is full of destructive internal politics. Membership of most governing bodies exposes a club to those politics, and entangles them in it. Furthermore, there may be all sorts of arbitrary rules made up, which members must abide by, but have little say in. With over 20,000 students in the UK, it is ridiculous for us to become members of an organisation whose largest other member is 10 percent of our size, yet to have the way we function dictated by them.
