Why isn everyone assigned a science textbook?
Reading a textbook is a skill. The science text is used to teach textbook reading. Also, thanks to technology, advancements in science not only take place rapidly, but come into the public domain very quickly. The science text is often outdated and the notes contain the more recent data. Texts are large and heavy and it is not necessary to carry an extra book. If you want your student to have a text, one can be signed out at the end of class.
