Why isn’t building a ramp being considered?
The cost of constructing a ramp would result in a significant increase in permit prices to support the bond payment associated with the structure. To put the cost into perspective, UW-Oshkosh constructed a 448 stall ramp for just under 6.5 million dollars in 2006-2007. Debt service on $6.5M for 20 years is more than $500,000/year or 50% of current parking revenue. In addition to construction costs, maintenance and security costs associated with ramps are also significant.
