Why isn Animal Planet showing Lassie anymore?
Reruns of the classic series used to be on Discovery Kids (see above) and presently shows (in badly edited form) on World Harvest Television. Both DK and Animal Planet are owned by the Discovery Channel. I do not know why Animal Planet isn’t showing their own series any longer. You would think a channel called “Animal Planet” might not only air Lassie, but other animal series like Rin Tin Tin, Fury, My Friend Flicka, The Adventures of Champion, National Velvet, etc. Like everyone else, they’re neck-deep into “reality TV.” Ho-hum. However, the first season of the Animal Planet Lassie series is available in Canada from Amazon.ca and other Canadian mail order DVD sites. It is in Region 1 format so it is playable on US DVD players without the need for hacking or a multi-region player.
