Why is work and school mandatory but not social clubs?
Well at a job you are given a schedule to follow that serves the best interest of your employer, not yourself. If you fail to abide by that you can be terminated among other things. Yes school and work are far more serious. Failing to show up for school or work can have very serious repercussions. Social groups are voluntary, and people usually participate in them for their own benefit.
