Why is Waco ISD conducting pre-registration and making changes to the transfer policy?

0

The district is undertaking this process to determine where our students live in relation to the schools they currently attend. During the past several years, changes have occurred in the enrollment patterns at a number of our schools. As a result, some schools are unable to serve all of the families living within their attendance zones. Excessive transfers to those campuses often displace students who live within a schools attendance zone. After receiving updated information, the district will be able to determine which campuses can accept transfers without displacing attendance zone students. The district will also be able to determine which campuses can no longer accept transfers. My child has been using a transfer to attend a campus outside our attendance zone for a long time. Will he be able to stay there? In all likelihood, yes. After students living within a school’s attendance zone are enrolled, the next priority will be given to incoming fourth, fifth and eight grade students
