Why is UW interested in cloud computing?
The UW is exploring whether cloud services can help us meet our strategic goals of providing state-of-the-art personal productivity and collaboration tools to the UW community, while at the same time reducing costs for providing “commodity” IT and enabling us to re-focus technology staff on other high priority activities. Some of these services are offered at no charge to academic institutions, and many UW students and employees are already familiar with the services through their individual use of them.
