Why is updating the “umn.edu” domain in Service Gateway restricted to NTS?

0

The “umn.edu” zone is home to core service names for X500, central email, and web servers. Changes to “umn.edu” are strictly controlled in order to limit DNS errors that prevent the propagation of the names to our critical services. To add CNAMEs in umn.edu, fill out a DNS request form for the Technical Assistance Center. By having NTS add CNAMEs outside of domains you are authorized to make changes in, your ability to make further changes to the specific Service Gateway object is removed.
