Why is tyre pressure important?
Correct tyre pressures are very important as they help to ensure that the vehicle handles correctly and they also help to maximise the life of a tyre.If tyres are used with pressures either too high or too low or the operating conditions of the vehicle it may have an adverse effect on the handling characteristics of the vehicle – i.e. it may cause the vehicle to under steer or over steer and may also affect the braking distance when the brakes are applied. Incorrect pressures can also cause a vehicle to use more fuel and produce higher emissions. The recommended tyre pressure for a vehicle can be found in the vehicle handbook or on the vehicle itself. (Normally inside the fuel filler flap or on the Drivers door pillar.) The tyres pressure given will be the recommended pressure for the tyres when they are cold. If you need assistance with tyre pressure recommendations your local Protyre Dealer will be able to offer advise. It should be noted that tyre pressure recommendations do change
