Why is Truman Capote remembered today?
Well, I remember him mainly for his two best-known works, “Breakfast At Tiffany’s” and “In Cold Blood”, very different but both exceptionally well-written. “Other Voices, Other Rooms” was also quite fascinating but rather strange. (I suspect it may have been, in large part, autobiographical.) He was also a very colourful character, extremely bright, bitchy and eccentric. I think he had a rather tragic life. (If you’ve read “To Kill a Mockingbird”, Scout’s friend who was visiting his aunt/grandmother (?) because his mother had acquired a new husband was based on young Truman. He was Harper Lee’s friend and neighbour when they were children.
