Why is tree removal happening so fast in the Glade?

0

To respond to resident concerns regarding nesting birds in the Glade watershed, crews will complete tree cutting for Reaches 1, 2, and 3 as quickly as possible, starting on February 18, 2009. The process is expected to take approximately three to four weeks; removal of trees will be completed after the cutting is finished. This schedule was chosen based on discussions with U.S. Fish and Wildlife staff and will help ensure that birds who build their nests in the spring are not impacted by tree cutting. We recognize the fact that there is no ideal construction time frame for all wildlife species, but this schedule will minimize impacts to nesting birds.
