Why is Transitions adding the UV 400 message now?
Scientific literature indicates that Solar Ultra Violet radiation can cause damage to the eye. Long term exposure of the eyes to UV radiation may also be a factor in causing cataract and long term exposure to near Ultra Violet radiation between 315 and 400 nm may be a factor in causing degeneration of the retina. UV 400 protection extends beyond the conventional UV blockage evaluated at 380 nm by providing greater than 99.5% blockage of the mean spectra transmittance from 280 nm to 400 nm as measured in accordance with AS/NZS 1067:2003. All Transitions VI lenses provide UV 400 protection.
