Why is time updated only at repetitions?
The timer used in SuperMemo is used to estimate some parameters related to the learning process (Mean Time, Workload, etc.). Obviously, the time which the learner spends on editing the database, or even eating his/her lunch, is of little relevance to the method per se. The time spent for the entire learning session, if at all needed, can easily be computed by using an external timer, e.g. a separate Windows application.
