Why is Ticketmaster going paperless for Miley Cyrus concert?
In an attempt to keep tickets in the hands of fans rather than scalpers, the upcoming Miley Cyrus tour is going paperless. Although this all-paperless tour is a first for Cyrus, Ticketmaster debuted the new ticketing system for Tom Waits’s “Glitter and Doom” tour on May 7, 2008. The tour’s Ticketmaster page includes step-by-step instructions with accompanying illustrations and a demonstration video about how to purchase a paperless ticket. The process, as outlined in the video, is the same as buying a paper ticket, except the delivery method will be labeled as “paperless.” To gain entry to the concert, fans must present a government-issued ID and the credit card used to purchase tickets. Venue workers will swipe the credit card, and fans will be presented with seat locator slips and enter the venue.
