Why is Thunderbird Blvd closed at Wesbrook Mall?
VANOC has installed the security perimeter for UBC Thunderbird Arena that will be in place for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The security area encompasses the venue, Lord, Buck and Spencer fields and the Thunderbird Parkade. The fence crosses Thunderbird Blvd. at Wesbrook Mall and on the East entrance to the Thunderbird Parkade. The Thunderbird Parkade will continue to be open to UBC users until February 4 and is accessible via East Mall. NO vehicle, cyclist or pedestrian traffic is permitted inside the security perimeter.
