It’s a Flightstar. It has a Hirth engine. The plane itself has a BRS parachute on it. The plane has its engine located high above the pilots like a bomber instead of on the nose of the plane like other small aircraft. This is called a tractor configuration and is one of the main reasons we chose the Flightstar for West Texas. With the engine and propeller so high off the ground and with a relatively pointed nose we could, if we had to, land in almost any pasture in West Texas and all we would get is a couple of flat tires. If the engine were on the nose, the propeller and engine would be in the mesquites in an off airport landing.
