Why is Thermacote Systems’ caulk and polyseal superior to other contractors?
Wood can shrink up to 23% over time as moisture is dried out of the wood. A contractor should use a 30 year silicone caulk instead of less expensive acrylic caulks. The silicone caulk will elongate as the wood shrinks and maintain an air seal over time. Acrylic caulks will crack and break the air tight seal originally intended. The caulk should also be pressed completely into the crack and not just laid over the crack with the tip of the caulk tube.
