There never has been a time where war and it’s accompanying horrors has been absent from the world, and it’s highly unlikely there ever will be such a time. Humankind has a number of profound flaws, an inability to adapt being at or near the top of such a list. We had to learn to fight way back in pre-historic times, when humans were little more than any other beast, and resources necessary for survival were in short supply. We had to fight other animals for those resources or die. We also had to fight other humans – so we began to form alliances, called by several terms, the most appropriate being “tribes” and work as a group to acquire and keep mutually-needed resources. At times tribes had to fight each other, because those resources remained scarce. It was war, even though the weapons were sticks and stones, fists and teeth.
