Why is there such a long delay in replacing Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) who leave?
Answer The accessibility to training meant that vacancies had to wait for officers to come through. However, there were a number of retiring Police Officers who had applied to become PCSOs and these would not need the full training. Current funding from the Home Office for PCSOs was on a year-to-year basis but had just been confirmed for the next 12 months. Question Has anything transpired from a meeting held after the February 2009 snow where it was agreed that DNPA Rangers, police, farmers etc. would get together to formulate some sort of plan to ensure that people did not drive up roads which were closed and cause havoc to those who needed to get about their business to feed stock, attend patients etc. Answer It had not been possible to track down this meeting and so the Member who raised it would be asked to give further information.
