Why is there such a large Asian/Asian British ethnic group in the UK?
I speak for Chinese: Now, the majority of Chinese in the UK, are mainly immigrants from Hong Kong, a former British Crown Colony. During the 1980’s the British Parliment had talks with the Communist Chinese government on the position and status of Hong Kong (including Kowloon and the New Territories.) It ended in the Sino-British Joint Declaration of 1984, which states that Hong Kong, including Kowloon, the New Territories and all surrounding island under the previous Hong Kong Government’s jurisdiction is now handed over to the jurisdiction of the People’s Republic of China. Hong Kong has always been democratic and free since its first encounter with the British, and after 150 years of colonial ruling, it finally came to an end.
