Wow, all the neocons that comment on the drugs of that time amaze me. The drugs available and used in the 60’s and 70’s don’t hold a candle to what is available and used today by the under 40 crowd. The current generation is the most druged up society in the history of mankind. And for those of you conservatives that think the culture of the 60’s has been discredited, I suppose you want to go back to the segregation we had in America before then. Most of your most cherished freedoms you have now were cultivated by the free spirit movement of that time. The poser of the question states that everything we believed in has been discredited. Not really. The only people who believe that are your basic conservative Republicans who want to go back to the 50’s and believe George W. Bush is a great president. I’m a veteran of the Viet Nam war and I love my country and what it stands for. I am proud to be a member of the so called hippie generation. You ought to be embarrassed for your dumb quest

I can’t answer that. However, I’m interested in the history that took place during this era, because unfortunately, the adults in my young life didn’t bother to take time out to explain the meaning of all these important events that took place and that shape us today, in terms of our rights. For example, the Vietnam War, the protests on a lot of issues, the assassinations of both Dr. King & Robert Kennedy, Charles Manson and his followers, Roe vs. Wade, Nixon’s Watergate, man’s first walk on the moon, what school suspensions meant back in the day (where it really affected your future life!), family dynamics or the erosion of it, thereof. Yes, there was alot of drugs and the hippie culture. But something good must have come out of that era. Me? I’m into the disco era of music like Barry White and the early forms of funk music.
