Why is there only an auxiliary tank available from The LongRanger?
During the design stage we analyse all the factors to come up with the best fuel tank solution for each vehicle. As vehicle manufacturers finely tune their design it becomes more important with a modern car to consider such items as chassis strength and extra weight to be added. Also considered in the design stage are manufacturing processes and even packaging and freight which are all taken into account. With the D40 Navara range of tanks we chose an auxiliary tank over a full replacement so as to have less impact on vehicle reliability & function. Rather than add a large 150L replacement steel tank on the diesel we have chosen to add an auxiliary tank which weighs approximately half the weight of a full replacement tank, but still giving the same total fuel capacity. We have also added an extra mounting cross member for the tank to evenly distribute the weight over a larger section of the vehicle chassis.
