Chapter 6 of the I-494 Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) addresses noise in the corridor. Existing noise levels were monitored between June 28, 2000 and July 24, 2000, and data was collected from receptors 57-61 in the vicinity of West Bush Lake Road. Since the I-494 corridor is congested now, the noise from the improved corridor is very similar what is currently being heard. Mn/DOT has economic criteria for the cost benefit analysis of the noise wall adjacent to highway corridors. The cost of the wall has not been deemed economical and therefore is not part of the I-494 Stage 1 reconstruction.
