Why is there no money tied to the Player of the Year title?
Not everyone tees it up at all events. For example, the Kup is invitation only. It would not be fair for someone playing at the Kup to pass someone who is not playing in the Kup and cash a large check. Player of the Year is a status award which rewards consistent performance across multiple golf formats (2-man, individual stroke play, individual match play, and team Ryder-Cup style golf).
