Why is there no gestational sac at 17 weeks pregnant?

At 17 weeks you’d be showing and there would be a gestation sac, so it sounds like you could have had a silent miscarriage, or a partial molar pregnancy. When the baby takes 23 chromosomes from the mother as usual, but 46 from the father, double the normal amount. In this instance because there’s still some placental tissue amongst the abnormal mass, it can still grow as a normal pregnancy would. In a complete molar pregnancy the fertilised egg takes the 46 chromosomes entirely from the father, but none from the mother. The cluster of cells is unlikely to grow a great deal in this case, but in either scenario, the pregnancy isn’t viable because the fetus is genetically deformed and cannot survive and grow into a baby. I’m really sorry, and hope i’m wrong, because either scenario is a nightmare i wouldn’t wish on anyone. Good luck sweetie.
