Why is there more male political representatives than females in Canada?
There are a number of factors at play here which makes this a difficult question to answer. The key is whether a female is nominated by the party to run in a riding. Riding Associations tend to nominate candidates that are experienced in business, are lawyers or have previous experience (such as being a provincial member of parliament). Historically these positions are held by more males than females. The link below is a good article that examines the barrier of females in federal politics.
