Why is there an annual shutdown of the Aquatic Centre for 2 weeks?
Imagine maintaining a facility that is open to the public 359 days of the year with almost a million visitors! Closing the Aquatic Centre for 2 weeks allows for a thorough maintenance check of the area. Water systems are flushed, filters scrubbed, tiles replaced, upgrades completed, seals replaced, caulking repaired, paint touched up and a deep clean of the entire area. Health Canada requires pools to complete annual maintenance every 18 – 24 months. In the interest of our patrons, the TLC completes one every 12 months.
