At AlMaghrib Institute, we firmly understand that the default ruling is that Islamic knowledge should be distributed for free. We understand fully well that the AlMaghrib Institute tuition based model is not the ideal. It is not the ideal, but for a North-American post-Khalifah audience (with no Muslim governing body to financially support the dawah, as was the past traditionally), it is the model that, based on detailed and measured experience, has worked best. Our objective is not to simply distribute knowledge for free, ignoring the effectiveness of our efforts. Our higher objective is to determine how we can get this knowledge to people in such a way that they will cherish it and use it. That is why, after much discussion, scholarly consultation, and shoora, the affordable tuition model was adopted.
