Why is there a Taxicab Operator Dress requirement?
Taxicab operators, licensed by the DC Taxicab Commission, serve as ambassadors of the District of Columbia as the operator is often the first representative of the District a visitor to our Capitol City meets. The Commission, through its operator dress code requirement, seeks to continue to encourage the high level of professionalism, courtesy and pride reflected by many of our licensed taxicab operators. What is the Taxicab Operator Dress requirement? Section 822.10 of Title 31 requires that the taxicab operator meet the following dress requirements: 822.10 No person shall drive a taxicab for hire when the operator does any of the following: a. Is not clean in dress or in person; b. Is not fully attired or is attired in such a manner as to give offense to the public; or c.
