Why is there a parameter Program allowed when specifying the data source of a Data Field instruction?
DTM for iSeries allow you to write your own program to provide data during the merge. The Merge Engine will not use a file or a query to retrieve data, instead it will call the specified program. It is the responsability of the called program to provide the data requested by the Merge Engine. The called program can use different resources like databases, other programs, network connections and so on.
