Why is there a new sign (No Dogs Allowed) for the grassy play area north of Willett’s asphalt playground?

A. We recognize and appreciate that most of the dog owners who use the Sycamore Park dog play area are willing to pick up after their dogs and to make sure they are monitored. However, we have had reports from students at PE or recess that they have stepped in or noticed dog feces on the grass play area north of Willett’s asphalt playground and adjacent to Sycamore Park. There have also been incidents where dogs, running unleashed, have bitten or frightened people on school grounds. For these reasons, the District thought it desirable to clearly delineate the boundary between the school grounds and the Sycamore Park dog play area.
