Why is there a need to round off whole numbers?

0

It is convenient to round off whole numbers if they are very large and we only need an approximation. For example, when we look at the population of different countries we usually round off to the nearest million. You can see that even if we don’t know the exact population it is still very useful because we get a good idea of the number of people in a country and we can still compare the populations of different countries. Also, since population is always changing, the rounded population does not have to be updated as often.
