Why is there a higher price for plus sizes?

0

Our standard sizes are for sizes up to a 42″ bust/waist, or about a women’s size 18 to 20. We have found that pattern companies simply make pattern pieces larger for sizes over a 42″ bust, with no regard to how women or men this size are actually shaped. This means that if we simply make your garment from the standard pattern, it will not fit properly. The most common problems will cause gapping at the underarms, or the bodice will be too short in front and too long in the back. Therefore, we will draft a pattern specifically for you, based on your own unique shape, to ensure a proper fit. This does raise the price some, as it normally takes several hours to draft a new pattern.
