On 18 June 2010, the former Minister for Employment Participation, Mark Arbib, announced that $3 million would be provided from the Innovation Fund to support social enterprises to assist job seekers with disability. In the week commencing 21 June 2010, DEEWR conducted consultations with a group of peak bodies on what additional support is needed for established social enterprises to employ people with disability (that is not currently available through the Disability Employment Services, Australian Disability Enterprises and other Government funded programs). The call for project proposals made on 19 November 2010 is the result of these consultations.
