Why is there a distinction between assignments and viewing rights ?
Differentiating between viewing rights and assignments gives the owner of the profile the opportunity to restrict sensitive areas from being worked on by certain team members, while still allowing them to see the whole picture. For example, you may wish to allow a particular team member to view both Fixed Assets and Current Assets but only want them to work on problems arising in the Fixed Assets.
