Why is there a delay with the new Secure Certificate of Indian Status project?
• INAC has engaged independent assessors to ensure the technical aspects of the project are secure and protect the personal information of all First Nation citizens. To ensure this is achieved, adjustments to the system’s infrastructure are required and until these have been completed, the implementation phase of the project will be on hold until further notice. This includes deployment of the Mobile Application Centres as well as production of Secure Certificates of Indian Status. INAC is committed to taking immediate action to minimize delays.
