Why is there a big delay before the stream is played?
Your player is probably caching before playback. Mplayer defaults to caching 20% of it’s 8192 KB buffer, which is about 1640 KB. For a 192 kbit stream that’s roughly a full minute of caching, before playback commences. We reccomend you configure your player not to do any caching at all, as the Octoshape Streaming Services plug-in already handles the nessecary caching. You should pass this as an argument to your player (rather than a setting in a file), as to avoid affecting playback of other streams. For mplayer the argument in question is called “-nocache”.
