It depends on the equation If it is easily solvable by factorising then it is quicker to do that than to use the formula, however sometimes it cannot be factorised (you can tell this by inputting the form ax² + bx + c into b² – 4ac and seeing if it is 0 or above – if it isn’t then it cannot be factorised) and then you must use the formula Hope that helps
