The world’s population is increasing because births are exceeding deaths. It is as simple as that. Less young and old die due to technology, healthcare, education, etc and so there are more people having children than ever. There are ways to try and tackle population growth-as seen in China’s One Child Policy, which was successful in achieving its goal, however the nation’s young are now facing many difficulties as a result. Trying to stop the world’s population increasing is difficult is somewhat of an understatement. The only way to achieve this is to stop people living (i.e. kill them or not allow them to live “too” long) or to stop people from having too many births. What will happen once the population has risen above 8 billion? We have yet to see. There has been speculation on possible outcomes.
