Why is the wooden cabinet unfinished?

Because many animals (and their owners too) are sensitive or even allergic to any chemicals that would be part of the finish, we purposely left the wood unfinished. Leaving the wood unfinished has another advantage in that cats will often avoid anything that is new if it smells weird and we all know that nobody can force a cat to do anything that a cat doesn’t like. The GP can be stained or painted after the cat gets used to the GP, however, it is wise to paint/stain a piece of scrap wood first and place the test piece next to their food bowl and see if the new smell offends the cat.
