Why is the Windows software from Actron already compliant with IEC-61131-3 when the others are just now becoming compliant?
Everything has a beginning. When a “global standard” for PLCs was being contemplated, several major PLC “players” boldly answered the call. Actron A.B. of Sweden was one of these original contributors. As a result of (literally) years of development the IEC-1131 “draft” was voted into becoming a “standard” (hence the change from IEC-1131 to IEC-61131. Part “3” relates to PLC software. Other sections relate to hardward standards, and so forth. Because Actron has been involved since the beginning, and because of their commitment to Hitachi, ActWin Programming Software was indeed one of the first to be compliant with the IEC-61131-3 standard.
