Why is the Viennese Waltz so hard to learn?
I lived in Austria for a while and even my Austrian friends said they had trouble learning this art form. I must say it is a disciplined dance style and repetition and commitment are your greatest allies. Many friends i had in Austria said they were required to at least try to learn it at a young age either by family or in school and even they could not get the flow and steps down well. I guess i would suggest trial and error along with a lot of repetition and a lot of listening to Strauss to absorb the music and get the flow.
