Why is the United States flag folded in a triangle shape?
The custom of folding the United States flag into the shape of a triangle bestows unique honor and respect upon the flag.Although the origins of this custom are unknown, it is believed that that the practice was developed during World War I when patriotism was high and the flag was universally embraced as a national symbol. Many feel that it is reminiscent of the colonists who wore tri-corned hats during the Revolutionary War, of the three branches of our national government and of the three primary documents of our land: the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
