Why is the tournament on February 25th instead of in March?
After two years of holding the tournament in March I determined that the number of conflicts was prohibitive. Between Spring Break, County Fairs, Music Competitions, Family Vacations, Sporting Events, Local Parades and Spring Musicals, I was dealing with numerous teams who could not attend the tournament or who needed special scheduling to be able to attend. I was also faced with a lack of facilities to host the tournament in. Because we require most of the campus including the drama facilities, we were conflicting with the spring musical, spring music concerts, community events and college entrance exams. By moving the tournament to the last week in February we avoid almost all of these problems. In addition, Central teams have longer to prepare for State Finals after the regional tournament. The Central Region hosted the tournament in February last year and it was quite successful.
