Why is the study of thermochemistry important ??????

Thermochemistry is the basis for lots of chemical reactions that are vital to you. For instance, reduction/oxidation reactions involving carbohydrates – is where your muscles get energy. Thermodynamics helps explain such reactions. Thermodynamics – when considering various types of free energy equations – is why batteries work. Thermo also explains why reactions are (or are not) favorable. It explains why your carbon-based body doesn’t fall apart when exposed to oxygen. (Heat flow is wrong…) Thermodynamics explains why an automobile works. (Exothermic reactions and gas laws combine to provide the push on pistons.) In detective and mystery stories, they usually say “Follow the money.” In chemistry, it is “Follow the energy” – and thermodynamics is how you do that.
