Why is the standard weight on a bag or box sometimes different than the actual weight?
Imperial Sugar maintains very strong quality controls to ensure the accurate weights of sugar comply with the standards labeled. The machines that load the sugar measure by weight rather than volume. Our goal is to have exactly the same weight in each bag or box, but there can be a slight weight variance usually resulting in the consumer receiving more product in the package than that listed on the label.
