Why is the SSN required for hunting and fishing licenses?
Congress passed a law making money available for child support enforcement and other purposes in state welfare agencies, but stipulated that if states want to claim the money, they must pass state laws requiring the collection of SSNs for every license the state issues, and make those SSNs available to the state agency that enforces child support collection.
